From the moment we begin planning your newborn session, my desire is to welcome you with open arms and reassuring words. While this is an exciting time, it can also be unchartered water, full of emotion and worries. I’m a mom myself, so I know how much it means to have people to help and support you. From the moment you walk through my studio door to the final delivery of your beautiful portraits, I want the entire experience to be amazing for you.
Studio Newborn Sessions
Studio newborn sessions are scheduled during the first few weeks after birth. Sessions are held in my sanitized, climate-controlled studio for maximum comfort for babies. During the hours we spend together, I follow the baby’s lead when it comes to feeding, sleeping, and, yes, even pooping. I allow plenty of time for all of this, so you never feel rushed during the session. Family photos are always welcome at the session!
Lifestyle Newborn Sessions
Lifestyle newborn sessions are more documentary in nature to capture what life is like welcoming your new one into the family. Sessions typically take place in your home or at an outdoor location of mutual choosing. We will spend the time together documenting these precious memories you will cherish for a lifetime.
What to wear for your session
Babies need very little adornment to look adorable! I have plenty of colored wraps, knits, outfits, and props at the studio for your use. You can review my newborn portfolio to give you a good idea of what I offer. Your baby will be diaper-less for part of the session, so leave it to me to sanitize everything after the session. If there is an outfit/prop you would like to bring, please let me know so I make sure to incorporate it into the session.
Prep for your session
Pack a pacifier if you use one, nursing supplies or bottles, any outfits, diapers, and burp cloths. If you plan on having family photos, have clothing ready the day before.
Day of your session
Leave early, grab a cup of coffee or tea, and arrive knowing that whatever comes next is okay. Some babies fall asleep quickly for photos; others take a little more convincing. Whatever your baby does, we work with, and your photos will be as beautiful as your baby.
Newborn sessions are hand-assisted, baby is the boss, and everything is washable. That’s the three most important things you need to know about a newborn session!
