Why Opt for the Baby Plan?
Children are the most beautiful gift we could ever receive. As a professional photographer, I feel honored to be able to participate in the lives of my clients. My job is to capture the magic and joy of childhood in the most authentic way — unobtrusively, honestly, joyfully.
Although welcoming a baby into the world is a joyous occasion that should be celebrated, a variety of other factors can make this time stressful. Choosing how your baby will be photographed can add to that anxiety, so I have included a few helpful tips in this blog post to help steer you in the right direction.
Read on to learn about how selecting my Baby Plan makes for a better custom portrait experience; how it works, what the plan includes, and how it will benefit your family.
How the Baby Plan Works
My Baby Plan is straightforward and gives you the option to choose what is best suited for your needs, and for your budget. The Baby Plan allows for you to choose between 3 sessions and only requires a session fee to get started.
Each session will have its own ordering session after, at which you will choose and purchase beautiful artwork and/or digital images. Plan sessions usually must be completed during the first 13 months of life.
Types of Sessions Included in the Baby Plan
Maternity
A good number of expectant clients choose to capture this changing phase of their lives — and for a wonderful reason. Those fond memories of motherhood begin before birth while mom is still feeling refreshed, beautiful and excited about the joy of her new arrival. For the perfect maternity session, I recommend scheduling during your seventh month, around 28-35 weeks gestation.
If you choose to include a maternity session in your Baby Plan, complimentary makeup is included. Choose between a studio session or a mutually agreed upon location.
Newborn
Because this magical stage of life passes in the blink of an eye, we will capture your newborn portraits during the first 10-15 days of life, while your little one is still well-fed, sleepy and content. I will stay in touch with you as the exciting day approaches, making adjustments to fit you in at just the perfect time. We can capture your newborn session in-studio or you may select a lifestyle newborn session.
3 Months
At 3 months of age, your little one is still so little, but more alert. Three-month sessions are great for tummy time and capturing those cute little details. They grow so fast!
Sitting Up (Typically Around 6 Months)
When your baby is ready for sitting but not yet on the go, we can capture them at this roly-poly happy phase, when those big grins and belly laughs are lighting up your life. Sitting babies make the absolute best models, since they cannot crawl away! This session is by far the most overlooked phase in a baby’s first year. By choosing my Baby Plan (and selecting this session to be a part of your Plan), you are assured to capture this fleeting stage in your child’s life. This session alone would be enough for me, as a parent, to choose the Baby Plan! Portraits at this stage capture the beginnings of those dynamic personalities that will be with you forever, and give a glimpse into a small person interacting with their environment as only those small bundles of delight can.
Standing
This is a wonderful time to photograph assisted standing. If your little one is an early walker, this would be a fun session to capture!
One Year
The first birthday is a greatly anticipated milestone in every family. This session typically takes place right after or around your baby’s first birthday and is another great time to capture the milestone of walking. At this age, your toddler will be interacting in lots of fun ways (that sometimes leave even parents in need of a nap!). Standing, walking, and ready to take on the world, you have the opportunity to document that infectious energy and charisma that brings so much light (and sometimes surprise) into your life.
One Year Cake Smash
If you choose to include this session in your Baby Plan, I include a complimentary cake from a local bakery. I include family photos, as well as sibling photos and more formal portraits of your baby. These sessions are so fun! We see how much they’ve grown over the year! And of course, there’s the fun addition of the cake! Together we’ll design the set, and come up with colors, themes, and more.
High-End Product Offerings
As the artist commissioned to capture this special time in your family’s story, I offer high-end, archival products. I look at the Baby Plan as an opportunity to capture your baby’s first year and preserve and pass it on to your child through heirloom products. Products that will stand the test of time and look just as good 30 years from now as they do today. By selecting the Baby Plan, you have the opportunity to create keepsakes that you and your children will treasure forever.
